This was an episode a year in the making, so I really hope everyone enjoys it. The basics goes like this, I am a creative thinker. I let my emotions drive me and they really control my decisions. On the other hand, Elliott is a critical thinker, he lets facts and reasons control his. We realize we both think the opposite sometimes, but it’s very interesting when we talk about it!
I’m just squeaking this episode in on time, I almost forgot! I’m deep into a book right now and can’t seem to put it down, trying to work my way through the reader’s challenge. But that’s not what this weeks topic is! This week we talk about the state of education in America, specifically the importance of the middle school years.
A few weeks ago Elliott and I went to a local literary convention here in the Bay Area called FOGCon, which stands for Friends of Genre Convention. Basically it’s a very small (mostly) Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention that takes place in the basement of a hotel. Okay, the basement happens to be a pretty nice conference center with a lot of different breakout rooms, but it sounds better if I just say basement!
You may have guessed what our topic is today from the title, we will be talking about 50 Shades of Grey, both the book and recent movie. The best part is we are joined by Autumn Lokerson from ServingMaster.com, who also shares a lot of information about a real healthy BDSM lifestyle, as well as how 50 Shades of Grey is NOT healthy, nor is it really BDSM. Because we do delve into topics very much sexual in nature, listener discretion advised.
This week we have a more serious topic, the impact of technology on our society and are joined by John Francisco, who was on our Marvel Studios episode a few weeks ago. I say it is a more serious topic because we are able to delve into how things have changed in the past 30 years.
Ah, love. What a powerful word! When was the last time you told somebody you love them (and meant it)? This episode was inspired by a YouTube video I saw a while back (below) and it really made me think. As always me and Elliott have two very different opinions about the topic!
This week we talk about Disney Marvel’s licencing woes and what they’re trying to do to solve the problems! We are joined with Patrick from the Knights of the Video Game Table Podcast and John, fellow geek and gamer.
This week’s episode comes a week early because we wanted to make sure you had it in time for New Years! That’s right, this episode may be the cure for that hangover, so have it ready come January 1st, 2015, and hit play!
This week we talk about Christmas and what it means to each of us. Growing up in very different environments allows us to have two very unique views on Christmas, it’s meaning, traditions, and the general “magic” of the season.
This week we talk about living in a different era. I think the most interesting thing that I took away from this episode is the different thoughts that me and Elliott have on a subject. The way we were brought up, the way we lived, who are parents are, and the things we read/watch/play really affect the way we think.
